THE SPECIAL TECHNIQUE MANIFESTO:

With a striking appearance and positive outlook -
we will develop and transform ourselves.

Using remarkable and effective methods -
both ancient and contemporary.

We will inspire others to do likewise.

We will attract others to the techniques -
by utilising them visibly and vocally.

And, of course, with the sick gear.

About Our Logo:

The cloud/lightning bolt logo was originally conceived in 2005. It has recently become a trademark, and is now the intellectual property of Special Technique.

The cloud shape is derived from traditional Asian art. Every Far Eastern culture uses some variation of this shape to represent a cloud in painting, drawing, textiles, ceramics, and other art forms.

The cloud combined with lightning symbolizes action, or a dynamic, or a relationship.

The cloud represents potential, and the lightning expresses that potential springing to life and manifesting. A cloud with lightning implies a storm, which can bring destruction and also creation. Using a storm as a symbol can remind us that while some forces in the universe are inevitable, the way we respond to these forces is variable. We can choose to harmonize with uncontrollable influences.

The cloud also represents heaven. The lightning in this case represents the message of heaven coming to earth.

Finally, the cloud represents Nature, and the lightning represents the electricity we use to power our technology. We must remember that even in its most refined forms, technology is limited by, and dependent on, natural forces. We must never take our abilty to harness natural forces for granted, and we must always be thankful.

In Chinese tradition, the cloud shape also represents the Ling Zhi mushroom, or ‘Fungus of Immortality,’ a very important herb in Chinese Medicine. It is also similar in shape to the ‘Longevity Lock,’ a gift bestowed upon an newborn at the ceremony where the child receives his or her given name.

The cloud/lightning bolt logo is sometimes said to resemble a human brain, or the ‘word balloon’ used in comic books. Since we think a lot, and obviously have a lot to say, these other interpretations are also quite natural and appropriate.

Thanks.
